Day One JSON viewer
Read Journal.json without installing a converter.
Day One JSON is designed for re-import and can be difficult to inspect directly. JournalFold turns the export into a searchable local view and reports missing media references.
Open the working local toolHow it works
- Export the journal as JSON or a ZIP containing Journal.json.
- Choose the file in JournalFold. Parsing happens locally in the current browser tab.
- Search entries, filter tags and inspect the media match count.
- Download an integrity report, printable HTML or portable Markdown ZIP.
What stays private
Files and journal contents stay in your browser. Aggregate measurement excludes the archive, filenames, text, tags, dates, locations and search terms.
Important limitation
A zero-byte, corrupted or incomplete source export cannot be recovered by a viewer. Create a fresh export using the original app or an official workaround.
Not affiliated
JournalFold is an independent utility and is not affiliated with Day One or Automattic.
